Toyota on Thursday said it would start again some car component production at seven plants in Japan after a suspend all of the factory following the largest earthquake in the country.
As quoted by AFP, the first factory will start making replacement parts for the domestic market, and on Monday resumed production of parts to supply to its factories overseas.
Toyota has 22 factories in Japan, 12 of them directly operate.
Toyota spokesman said the company did not know when it will resume production at other factories that make cars.
The spokesman added that Toyota Tohoku, a new plant in Miyagi, suffered minor damage in the quake but was not affected by the tsunami.
